Sudanese-English broadcast journalist known for anchoring ITV Morning News, Channel 4 News, and the BBC's Reporters and World News Today. The Association for International Broadcasting presented her with a 2009 Media Award.
A philanthropist as well as a journalist, she established the Africa Medical Partnership Fund (AfriMed).
She and Susanna Reid both had careers as BBC broadcast journalists.
She graduated from Oxford University and the University of London.
A native of Sudan, she grew up primarily in England. She raised two sons and two daughters.
