Being dubbed as "The most powerful man in Hollywood" (Newsweek), Will Smith has enjoyed success in television, film, and music. Smith has been nominated for four Golden Global Awards, two Academy Awards, and has won four Grammy Awards. He and his co-producer, DJ Jazzy Jeff, achieved modest fame when their debut album Rock the House (1990) hit the Billboard Top 200 and made Smith a millionaire before the age of 18. In 1990, his popularity increased dramatically when he starred in the popular television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show ran for nearly six years (1990–96) on NBC and has been syndicated consistently on various networks since then.
Smith was born to mother Caroline, a school board administrator, and Willard Carroll Smith, Sr., a refrigeration engineer. He is the second of four children growing up in a middle class area in West Philadelphia called Wynnefield. His parents seperated and divorced when he's 13. He got the nickname "Prince" because of the way he could charm his way out of trouble.
Smith’s first marriage with Sheree Zampino in 1992 lasted only three years but produced a son, Willard Smith III. In 1997, Smith married actress Jada Koren Pinkett and they have two children: Jaden Christopher Syre Smith, and Willow Camille Reign Smith.
