A Thai Vitit Muntarbhorn is best known as a human rights expert and an international law Professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. Throughout his career, Muntarbhorn has served on many United Nations bodies including United Nations special rapporteur under the United Nations Human Rights Commission from 1990-1994, as an expert or consultant with the UNDP, FAO, UNICEF, UNESCO, the WHO. He was honourably awarded the UNESCO Human Rights Education Prize in 2004.
Vitit Muntarbhorn graduated with law degrees from Oxford University and Brussels. He became a lecturer in law at various universities in Austria, England, France, Switzerland and Thailand, etc. Together with C. Taylor he coedited a paper on human rights in Thailand in 1994. Many of his books on human rights issues, including women, children and human rights and human development have been published.
