Vanessa Anne Hudgens is an American actress and singer. She rose to prominence playing Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical series. Hudgens has also appeared in various films and television series for the Disney Channel. She had her feature film debut in the 2003 drama Thirteen. Following the success of songs from the High School Musical series, she released her debut album, V, in 2006 which certified Gold. She won the Teen Choice Awards (2008) and Young Hollywood Awards (2014).
Hudgens was born in California to her mother, Gina, an office clerk, and her father, Gregory Hudgens, a firefighter. She has a younger sister, Stella Hudgens, who is also an actress. All of her grandparents were musicians and they inspired her in her artistic career. Starting at the age of eight, Hudgens performed in musical theater as a singer. Her acting career started at the age of 15, and she briefly attended Orange County High School of the Arts, followed by homeschooling with tutors.
Hudgens began a relationship with High School Musical co-star Zac Efron in 2005. They abruptly ended their relationship in December 2010. Since 2011, Hudgens has been in a relationship with Austin Butler.
