Trinh Cong Son is regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Vietnamese New Music with many popular works. His debut song is Uot Mi published by An Phu publisher in 1959 and was performed by Thanh Thuy. He is widely known for his 236 songs (both lyrics and music). Many of his songs have anti-war message during the Vietnam War and had been prohibited by Vietnam Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Republic. Trinh Cong Son's music was performed by many singers, but no one would be better than Khanh Ly. In addition, he is an amateur poet and painter as well. Love songs are the most popular ones of his music career.
He grew up in Hue. In early childhood, he attended the schools Lycee Francais and Provindence in Hue. Later, he moved to Saigon and studied philosophy in Western Lycée Jean Jacques Rousseau School. When he was 17, he composed his first work Suong Dem and Sao Chieu.
For a lifetime, Trinh Cong Son loved many but not officially got married to anyone, and had no child. However, he had romantic love affairs with the famous women not only in Vietnam but also in foreign countries.
