Singer-songwriter Trey Songz is best known for his single in the film Step Up 2 The Streets soundtrack. The single was nominated at the 2008 50th Grammy Awards. He debuted in 2005 and swiftly followed through on the creative and commercial promise of his first album, I Gotta Make It. In addition to making music, Songz founded the Songz For Peace Foundation to help curb youth violence.
Songz’s parents gave birth to him when they were quite young, his father, at that time was only 17. He recognized his vocal abilities at the age of 14. Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement from friends and family in high school. While growing up, Tremaine Aldon Neverson loved hip-hop, but only R&B he could get into was. When his friends heard his perfect tenor voice, however, they pushed him to drop rap and start crooning.
