Solange Piaget Knowles is an American model, singer, composer, actress and the younger sister of famous R&B singer Beyonce. Going out of her sister’s shadow, she created her fame for herself in entertainment industry and earned nomination at BET Award, Soul Train Music Award and Golden Spin Award for her performance and contribution. Knowles released her second album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams in 2009, which received critical acclaims and ranked No. 9 on the Billboard 200.
Born in Houston, Texas, Knowles is the daughter of Mathew and Tina Knowles. Showing her interest in music at the early age, she had short time with Destiny's Child before performing under Music World Entertainment, her father’s label. She made her singing debut at the age of five when performing at an amusement park. Her first studio album Solo Star was released in 2003. Deeply influenced by Motown girl groups, Knowles’s first interest was composing.
Knowles married Daniel Smith in 2004 and had a son with him before divorcing in 2007. In 2014, she married Alan Ferguson, a music video director.
