A Brazilian retired professional footballer Pele is often regarded as the almost undisputed greatest soccer player of all-time and the most successful league goal scorer in the world, with 541 league goals, for which he was listed in the Guinness World Records for most career goals scored in football. The best-paid athlete in the world Pele was named in the list of 100 most influential people of the 20th century by Time in 1999 and known as "The Black Pearl", The King of Football or simply "The King. This legendary sporting figure and an iconic soccer player was praised for his exceptional heading ability, powerful shot and unbowed goal scoring that he earned himself a numerous awards including the prize of FIFA Player of the Century by FIFA, etc.
Pele was born as a son of of Fluminense footballer Dondinho and Celeste Arantes. In his early life, he played for several amateur teams in his youth, including Sete de Setembro, Canto do Rio, São Paulinho and won several championships with local team Radium. Pele signed a professional contract with the club Santos and made his senior team debut on 7 September 1956 at the age of 15 fighting against Corinthians Santo Andre where he had an impressive performance in a 7–1 victory.
