An American rapper, actor, television and radio host Nick Cannon has made inroads into the international market as host of America's Got Talent and is well known as the husband to R&B/pop singer Mariah Carey. His debut self-titled album in 2003 with the hit single Gigolo was released with a collaboration of singer R. Kelly. He made his breakthrough when warming up audiences on Nickelodeon's All That. Nick Cannon became the first African American to be honored with the Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Nick Cannon was born as a son of James Cannon, a televangelist, and Beth Hackett, an accountant. He was accustomed to music as a child and was invited to perform on his father's public access show.
