Former United States Army officer and NASA astronaut, Michael Clifford is best known as the first person to conduct a spacewalk at the Russian space station. He also gained 12 hours of spacewalk time over three Space Shuttle missions. Clifford is recognized a Master Army Aviator with over 3,400 hours flying in several fixed and rotary winged aircraft. For his contribution, Clifford received the Army Commendation Medal, the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement and NASA Space Flight Medal. After retiring, Clifford was at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Micheal Clifford was born California. To become one of Army officer, he had achieved a Bachelor of science degree from the United States Military Academy ( 1974 ) and a Master of science degree in Aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology ( 1982 ). He had proved his talent by being a First Class Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
