Matthew Timothy Healy is an English musician, best known as Matt- the lead singer, guitarist and pianist for the indie rock band "The 1975". their self-titled debut album was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit/Polydor, which was shortly reaching to number 1 in the UK Albums Chart on 8 September 2013. Matt, together with his bandmates, has had an international tour at that time before coming back to play at the 2014 Coachella festival.
Healy was born in London, the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy. In 2001, Healy met his bandmates—guitarist and keyboardist Adam Hann, drummer and backing vocalist George Daniel, and bassist and backing vocalist Ross MacDonald—at Wilmslow High School in Wilmslow. They first covered punk-rock and pop songs until they wrote ones for themselves. After George Daniel, the lead singer, had left to join another band, Matt became the lead vocalist. His band performed under names like Drive Like I Do, TALKHOUSE!, the Big Sleep and the Slowdown until they settled with the name the 1975.
It was rummored that Matt and Taylor Swift had a relationship after his statement about their number-exchanging. That story was intensified when Taylor attend The 1975's concert in 2014. Matt has been open about his previous addiction to cocaine
