Manuel Peter Neuer is a German footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Bayern Munich and the German national team. He has been widely recognised as a "sweeper-keeper" because of his unique playing style. With quick reflexes, excellent shot-stopping abilities, ball controlling, Neuer won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany as well as the Golden Glove award for being the best goalkeeper in the tournament. Additionally, he was named ESM Goalkeeper of the Year in 2012 for Bayern Munich. On 1 June 2011, Neuer signed a five-year contract worth €22million, which made Neuer the second most expensive goalkeeper of all time, only behind Gianluigi Buffon
Neuer was born in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, whe he attended Gesamtschule Berger Feld to pursue his interest in football. Neuer is big fan of German and former Schalke goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. Signing professional terms in 2005. He made his Bundesliga debut with Schalke when he had a chance to replace the injured Frank Rost on match day two of the 2006–07 season.
Neuer started a charity foundation for children, named the Manuel Neuer Kids Foundation. In November 2011, he won €500,000 for charity in a celebrity edition of Wer wird Millionär?, the German version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.
