Being an Irish actor, Liam John Neeson is best known for his starring roles in Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar winner Schindler's List. In addition, he had involved in a variety of film genres, ranging from the historical biopic Michael Collins (1996), the superhero film Batman Begins as Ra's al Ghul (2005), the action thriller series Taken (2008–2014) to the fantasy adventure film Clash of the Titans (2010). For his contribution on entertainment industry, he has been nominated for numerous awards and ranked in the "100 Sexiest Stars in Film History" and "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" by Empire magazine.
At age 11, he was given an opportunity to play a starring role in a school play. Later on, he went on acting in school productions. The person had great influence on his decision to become an actor was Ian Paisley, a minister of Presbyterian church. In 1971, he studied physics and computer science at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland before leaving to work for the Guinness Brewery.
He lived with actress Helen Mirren during the early 1980s. On 3 July 1994, he married actress Natasha Richardson with two sons, Micheál Richard Antonio (born 22 June 1995, in Dublin) and Daniel Jack (born 27 August 1996, in New York City). After his wife's death on 18 March 2009, he has been single up to now.
