Lea Michele Sarfati, better known as Lea Michele, is an American singer, songwriter, actress and author who is best known for her performance as Rachel Berry on the Fox television series Glee (2009–15). Her portrayal of Rachel received critical praise, earning her many nominations such as two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actress in a TV series - Musical or Comedy in 2010 and 2011, etc. She has received a Satellite Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and three consecutive People's Choice Award for her performance. Michele also has a beautiful singing voice with the vocal range of a soprano.
Michele is the only child of Edith T. Sarfati, a retired nurse, and Mark D. Sarfati, a real estate agent. She made her Broadway debut in 1995, at the age of 8, as a replacement in the role of Young Cosette in Les Misérables. Michele was also the understudy for the role of Gavroche.
