Spending whole time as a professional player of Boston, he played in 12 NBA All-Star and won three league’s Most Valuable Player Awards for his great performance, became the only player to earn 3 honorable awards Most Valuable Player, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year in history of NBA.
Born in West Baden, Indiana, Bird is the son of Georgia and Claude Joseph "Joe" Bird. His family was so poor that made his try his best to have this success. His parents divorced and his father killed himself when Bird was a teenager, which made he come to basketball to forget family problems. In 1974, he received a scholarship to become a basketball player of Indian Hoosiers but he left the school a month later. He was selected to NBA draft in 1978 by the Boston Celtics
Bird married Janet Condra but the couple divorced. He then got married to Dinah Mattingly in 1989 and they has 2 daughters and a son.
