With his outstanding electric guitar playing skills, American guitarist, singer, and songwriter Jimi Hendrix rose to fame in the 1960s and especially gained recognition through his performance of The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock in 1969. For his great contribution in rock music, he won numerous Hall of Fame Grammy awards, typically for albums Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland (1999), Purple Haze (2000) and Axis: Bold as Love (2006).
He found a passion for guitar after watching Elvis Presley's performance when he was 14. He began getting involved in playing electric guitar a year later and then performed for two bands, the Rocking Kings and the Tomcats. After dropping out of high school in 1959, he got odd jobs and continued to pursue his musical career.
