Jennylyn Mercado is a Filipino actress, TV host, singer and songwriter. She rose to fame after winning the first season of the reality talent competition Star Struck in 2003. As a singer, she has released three albums with GMA Records and Viva Records, containing several popular hits such as Sa Aking Panaginip, Moments Of Love, Maybe This Time and Kahit Sandali.
Mercado’s career started in 1999 as a member of girl band G4. A short time later, the band broke up and she landed the role of a commercial model in television advertisements for Pond’s and Bambini.
Jennylyn Mercado is the niece of television reporter, Abner Mercado. Her cousins are Cherie Mercado (news and radio anchor for News5), Charee Pineda, and Eliza Pineda both work for ABS-CBN channel. When being a child, she used to be abused by her stepfather. At the age of 21, she got pregnant with her ex-boyfriend Patrick Garcia, the boy was given name Alex Jazz "AJ" Mercado.
