Ichiro Suzuki, better known as simply Ichiro, is a Japanese professional baseball outfielder for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). Before joining in Miami Marlin, he spent eight years from 1992 to 2000 in Orix BlueWave of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). In 2001, he moved to United States to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners for 11 years and then the New York Yankees for two years. He won the 2007 All-Star Game MVP Award for a three-hit performance and a Gold Glove Award in each of his first ten years in the major leagues.
He joined his first baseball team at age seven and was supported by his father in order to be a better player. He made a decision to pursue a professional baseball career by the age of 12. Then he attended a high school with a prestigious baseball program, where he also joined the baseball team. Although he was oustanding there, he was not selected until the fourth and final round of the professional draft in November 1991.
