French war photographer most remembered for his work covering the Vietnam War for the Associated Press.
He died while attempting to document South Vietnam's invasion of Southern Laos. The pilots carrying him and the other journalists lost control and were shot down behind enemy lines.

Prior to becoming a photographer, he studied art in Rennes and became a painter after university.
