Born Hiram King Williams, this legendary country star released 35 top 10 singles on the Billboard Country & Western Best Sellers chart.
He released 11 #1 singles between 1948 and 1953, including "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "Hey, Good Lookin'."
His son Hank Williams Jr. also became a famous musician.
He dropped out of school to write music for the Drifting Cowboys, drank heavily when his bandmates were drafted for World War II, and was dismissed by WSFA because of his alcoholism.
He married Audrey Williams on December 15, 1944, and after their divorce on May 26, 1952, married Billie Jean Jones on October 18, 1952.
