As a lead guitarist of the greatest and most influential rock band The Beatle, George Harrison is also an English famous singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and film producer. He was known for leading his band into folk rock and then Indian classical music. Despite not being the main band’s songwriter, George Harrison still had his compositions become the Beatle’s second most covered songs. He worked as a solo singer after The Beatles’ break-up and received much success with many best-selling singles. With his great contribution, he was named among 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time by Rolling Stone and received 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Born in Liverpool, Lancashire, he was a son of Harold Hargreaves Harrison and Louise. His mother is a music fan and usually listened to music when being pregnant with George, which brought music into him. Harrison’s music was soon influenced by Cab Calloway, Hoagy Carmichael, Django Reinhardt, Big Bill Broonzy, and George Formby. He joined band The Beatles at the age of 15 and played as a guitarist.
Harrison and the model Pattie Boyd married in 1966 and the couple divorced in 1977. One year later, he got married to Olivia Trinidad Arias and had one son.
