Ewan McGregor is a Scottish actor, who has gained worldwide popularity since his largest role in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999–2005). Throughout the acting career, he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor and was ranked #36 on the list of Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time by the Empire Magazine in 1997.
McGregor was born to Carole Diane, a teacher and James Charles Stewart "Jim" McGregor, a physical education teacher. His older brother named Colin. In 1993, 6 months before his graduation from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he won his first leading role in Lipstick on Your Collar. However, his big break came 3 years later, when he landed the role of Mark Renton in the popular film Trainspotting (1996).
Both of his uncle and aunt, Denis Lawson and Sheila Gish, are actors. He has been in marriage with Eve Mavrakis, a French production designer since 1995 and they have 4 daughters.
