Jang Dong-gun is a South Korean actor, one of the highest paid actors and celebrity endorsers in the country. He is best known for his leading roles in the films Friend (2001) and Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War (2004), earning him the Best Actor and the Popular Star Award. He remains one of Korea's most beloved stars, not only for his performance in projects but because of his gentle and kind image.
Jang Dong-gun dropped out of the Korea National University of Arts School of Drama in Seoul, first entered the entertainment world in a talent contest in 1992 and eventually made his film debut in Repechage (1997).
Though romance with Ko So-young was consistently denied, Jang Dong-gun finally got married in May 2010 to his co-star in the 1999 film Love Wind Love Song, having together 1 son and 1 daughter.
