Regarded as as a vigorous septuagenarian Chung Mong-koo is best known as the chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, the largest carmaker in South Korea. He garnered Van Fleet Award in 2009.
Chung Mong-koo was born to Chung Ju-yung, founder the Hyundai Conglomerate. He graduated with Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Hanyang University. He became the CEO of Hyundai Precision & Industry in 1977, followed by CEO, Hyundai Pipe in 1981 and CEO, Incheon Iron & Steel in 1986 before being Chairman of Hyundai Group since 1996.
Chung Mong-koo was married to Lee Jung-Hwa. The couple has 4 children.
