Barack Obama is the 44th and current President of the United States, who was first elected to the presidency in 2008 and won a second term in 2012. Honorably, he is the first African American to serve as U.S. president in the history. He became well known for his economic stimulus legislation and healthcare reform.
Before involving political activities, he was a civil rights lawyer and a part time lecturer. He then served three terms in the 13th District of the Illinois Senate from 1997 until 2004, and ran for the United States House of Representatives in 2000, but was defeated.
Barack Obama’s parents got divorced one year after his birth. In October 1992, he married Michelle LaVaughn Robinson and had two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
