His parents got divorced when he was at three. He then was brought up by his mother in Chicago. West began his early production career in the mid-1990s, remixing soul records and baroque songs into his music.
The relationship between West and designer Alexis Phifer was from 2006 to 2008. He then had a baby named North with Kim Kardashian on June 15, 2013. The couple officially got married on May 24, 2014.
